This August, we were pleased to welcome Dr. Mark Taylor, MA, DVM, DACVR, an ACVR-certified veterinary radiologist, and founder of Taylor Veterinary Imaging, LLC to TUTOM Animal Health.
More than a professional exchange across borders, the visit created an opportunity to bring clinical perspectives from North American veterinary imaging into dialogue with TUTOM’s in-house R&D and product development teams — exploring how advanced imaging technologies can better support real-world veterinary practice.
During his visit, Dr. Taylor gained hands-on experience with TUTOM’s CBCT system and reviewed clinical cases together with our team. He shared positive feedback on the system’s performance and image quality, while exchanging perspectives on its potential applications in veterinary imaging.
Building on these demonstrations and case discussions, our conversations covered a broad range of topics, including CBCT applications, CT modality selection, contrast-enhanced imaging, image quality, clinical workflow, image interpretation, and veterinary imaging education.
One particularly valuable discussion focused on how CBCT and multi-slice CT can each play a role depending on the clinical question, anatomical region, patient, and imaging objectives.
Drawing on his experience in veterinary image interpretation, Dr. Taylor also shared his perspective that the potential applications of CBCT may extend beyond some of its traditionally recognized uses when appropriate system performance, case selection, and scan planning are taken into consideration.
This exchange led to a broader question:
What ultimately defines the value of a medical imaging system?
Technical specifications matter, but they are only part of the answer. Ultimately, imaging technology must translate into diagnostically meaningful information that supports clinical decision-making.
Advanced imaging is therefore not simply about the equipment itself. From case assessment and patient preparation to scan planning, image acquisition, reconstruction, and interpretation, every step contributes to the diagnostic value of the final study.
For TUTOM, this clinical perspective is an important part of how we approach product development.

The visit also laid the groundwork for continued collaboration between TUTOM and Taylor Veterinary Imaging. Moving forward, TUTOM will continue engaging with veterinary radiologists, clinicians, and industry partners around the world — bringing insights from real-world cases and frontline clinical practice into technology development, clinical applications, professional education, and imaging services.
